5 IMPORTANT TIPS TO CRACK JAIIB EXAMS 2020
JAIIB (Junior Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers) exams are banking exams conducted by the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF). These exams are held twice a year – ideally in May and November each year. We regularly update the schedule for JAIIB exams and CAIIB exams on NBTI website. You can get detailed information on the exam dates, our latest books, mock tests, and banking news and updates there.
This year (2020), the JAIIB exams and CAIIB exams have been postponed by the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) given the current lockdown situation due to COVID-19. Revised exam dates have not been announced yet. The revised exam schedule for JAIIB exams 2020 and CAIIB exams 2020 will be posted once updated and finalised.
The eligibility criteria for the JAIIB exam is not the same as for the banking recruitment exams that are conducted by the IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) or SBI. IBPS or SBI exams are open to common candidates but the JAIIB exam is not open for common candidates. Only those who are already working in banks or financial institutions can apply for JAIIB. However, to apply for Diploma in Banking and Finance (DBF) which is equivalent to JAIIB, you need not be working in a bank.
Since the exams have been delayed, those aspiring to answer the exams have this extra time in hand to prepare for and clear the JAIIB exam in the first attempt. So, to get you on top of everything here are 5 proven tips to help you score well and confidently clear the upcoming JAIIB exams 2020.
Make a thorough study-schedule
This is the first and the most important tip. You cannot be simply reading through or brushing the material while engaging in other activities. Studying and preparing the material for JAIIB exams requires a good amount of time, solely devoted toward studying and preparing. And with the help of our thoroughly researched and well-structured study material we aim to make this task as simple, informative and interesting for you. Plan to devote at least an hour or two a day, and mind you, no distractions 🙂
Look through the syllabus for JAIIB 2020 exams and prepare well
Before kicking off the study preparations, make sure to check the syllabus. Knowledge of the syllabus is very important as it will help you stay focussed on what to read and how much to read. You will be tested on these three subjects in JAIIB exam:
(a) Principles & Practices of Banking
(b) Accounting & Finance for Bankers
(c) Legal & Regulatory Aspects of Banking
If you already have a good hold on one or two of the above subjects, you will be able to analyse and check which subject and area needs more focus and preparation. For starters, simply a good thorough reading of the NBTI study material for JAIIB will give you clues as to where you need to spend more time. It is a good practice always, to note down or highlight important points while you read the material, that will help you during revision. It will also tell you where you require some handholding so you can make the most of our doubt-clearings phone sessions for personal guidance.
Prepare by referring to JAIIB latest edition books
There are tons of resources available online that you can refer to, but are they updated to meet the latest syllabus requirements? You can never be too sure till you try and once you try and fail in the exams, you will have to work hard all over again. So instead of failing and learning, why not learn to not fail with NBTI. Be sure to take JAIIB mock tests
Once you have gone through the theory section in detail, you can take up the free JAIIB mock tests available online to test your knowledge or start with the Mock test series using the login details sent to you separately. This will help you analyze your performance and assist you in knowing your weak and strong areas based on your preparation. When taking a mock test, prepare as though you are appearing for the final JAIIB exam. If you take it lightly, you will find it difficult to spot areas where you lag behind and areas where you only need to brush up.
Set aside time for revision
Mock tests are not the end of the preparation, even if you have cleared the mock tests, set aside time for revision. You can go through the points you have made a note of while studying, work on your weak points and take mock tests again if required. For sections where you feel stuck, we are only a phone call away. Our senior faculty has dedicatedly set aside time over the weekend only to help you clear all doubts during preparation.
Single Attempt to clear JAIIB exams
Always try to appear for all three subjects in a single attempt. You must be aware that even though the passing marks are 50 out of 100, if you score 45 or more marks in two subjects and are able to score overall 50% in total you will be declared successful in JAIIB exams. Isn’t that good news!
If you go well-prepared, JAIIB exams are very easy to crack in the first attempt, as has been the experience of most of our successful participants. There is no negative marking in the paper, so you can attempt all the questions. But remember, there is a time limit (2 hours).
